What is Reiki?
I am frequently asked what is Reiki? Reiki (pron. ray-key) is a Japanese relaxation and stress reduction technique that promotes healing. Reiki comes from two words: “Rei” meaning universal, and “Ki” meaning life energy. A Reiki Practitioner acts as a conduit who channels this guided life energy into the receiver.
It is this energy, combined with your body’s own restorative abilities, that brings such benefit to a Reiki recipient. This gentle and effective practice was brought to the Western hemisphere back in the 1930’s.
The medical establishment is becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of Reiki. Reiki is now being used in hospitals, clinics and by private practitioners all over the world for pain management, pre and post-operative relaxation, and many other ailments. In my own experience clients have reported extended fibromyalgia and arthritis pain relief, decreased nausea and fatigue after cancer treatments, sound and easy sleep and many other immediate benefits.
